Melbourne chef and restaurateur Shane Delia has announced plans to open a new restaurant in Brisbane in early 2025.
The venture, which is yet to be named, will be Delia’s first in Brisbane. It will feature the signature bold, Middle Eastern flavours that his Melbourne restaurants Maha, Maha North (renamed from Maha Bar last year), and Maha East became known for.
“I’m excited to be launching a restaurant in Brisbane. It’s long been a desire of mine to open a venue in this city – what is continually proving to be a vibrant new culinary destination in Australia,” says Delia.
The West End restaurant will be located in Thomas Dixon Centre. The centre has partnered with VenuesLive, Queensland Ballet, and the Delia Group to establish a dining and event destination.
“I look forward to bringing my passion for bold flavours, rich spices, and diverse culinary traditions to Brisbane, crafting an experience that complements Queensland Ballet’s artistic excellence.”
Delia is also the owner of Jayda, the “thirsty neighbour” of Maha, and Biggie Smalls, which serves up vibrant food “to the beat of 90s hip hop culture” in Melbourne Airport and Optus Stadium Perth.
The restaurant is Delia’s first new venue since Providoor (his bespoke meal delivery service which became a hit during Covid lockdowns) was placed into liquidation in April last year, before being acquired and relaunched by investor Sam Benjamin.
The Brisbane venue will have an evolving menu that promises to take guests “on an unrestricted spice journey”.
Further updates will be announced soon.
