After almost two years in business, Julie and Josh Niland have made the decision to close one of their Sydney restaurants.
Petermen will host its final service in St Leonards this Sunday, with the couple confirming the news via a statement issued earlier this week.
“Our time on Chandos Street has brought a lot of joy to us and our team, and we have welcomed the most incredible guests. However, the past 12 months have been extremely challenging for independent businesses within the hospitality industry. Sadly, Julie and I have had to make the decision to close Petermen.
“We wish to thank the local community for all their support. We are incredibly grateful to our team, who will continue with us at Saint Peter and Fish Butchery. A big thanks to our suppliers, incredible guests, and everyone who has assisted in making Petermen a special restaurant to dine in”.
The 60-seat restaurant served plenty of locals across its weekend brunch and dinner services. While Petermen initially focused on seafood, the restaurant recently incorporated other proteins, such as Sommerlad chicken and CopperTree Farms beef tenderloin, onto its menu to entice a wider demographic of diners.
But it’s not all bad news. Petermen staff will be redeployed to Saint Peter and Fish Butchery, and the couple have also recently announced they will open a new restaurant next April at the The Sundays hotel on Hayman Island.
